At Lynwood Elementary School, we envision a future where every student is empowered to explore, discover, and grow through joyful, student-centered STEM learning experiences. Rooted in the MSD of Decatur Township mission of being Student Invested, Community Connected, Lynwood is committed to creating safe, engaging classrooms where curiosity is celebrated, kindness is practiced daily, and integrity guides every interaction. Through meaningful STEM opportunities, students will develop the confidence and critical thinking skills needed to become Tomorrow Ready learners and leaders.
At Lynwood, STEM learning will inspire students to ask questions, solve problems, and collaborate in ways that connect classroom learning to the world around them. Our students will engage in hands-on, inquiry-driven experiences that encourage creativity, innovation, and perseverance while strengthening foundational academic skills across all content areas. By integrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with literacy, communication, and social-emotional learning, Lynwood students will learn to think deeply, work collaboratively, and respond to challenges with resilience and purpose.
Guided by Decatur Township’s Culture Guide values of Respect, Teamwork, and Excellence, Lynwood Elementary will foster a culture where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to achieve their personal best. Our focus on joyful learning and whole-child development ensures students not only grow academically, but also develop the durable skills necessary for future success, including communication, collaboration, adaptability, and strong work ethic. Student achievement and growth will continue to be celebrated through traditions such as LIFT Awards, reinforcing our belief that every learner can thrive and every success matters.
As a community-connected school, Lynwood Elementary will cultivate partnerships with families and community stakeholders to create authentic learning experiences that prepare students for future opportunities in school, career, and life. We are committed to building a learning environment where students are known, challenged, and encouraged to become compassionate problem solvers, innovative thinkers, and responsible citizens who positively impact the world around them.
What makes our STEM program stand out
Inspiring Future Innovators Through STARBASE
